Personal Statement On Computer Science - 2037 Words
Coming into this school year I was nervous that I may have chosen the wrong major. Prior to computer science one, I had very little programming knowledge but I knew for sure I wanted to be some type of engineer because I wanted to build things that would make the world a better place. In high school, I took many Project Lead the Way courses through RIT but I mainly focused on the mechanical engineering ones. Thus, I was put onto a mechanical engineering path until I met my first software engineer. Some people may call my decision to major in software engineering rash, but I am certainly glad I did it. As the first couple of weeks passed by, I fell in love with programming and began to see all the opportunities a software engineering degree from RIT provided me. Yet still, I lacked real world knowledge of a software engineerââ¬â¢s day to day lives so hearing a perspective from someone in the workforce helped me clarify the differences between the billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg and the normal, average software engineers. Interview Before I dialed Benââ¬â¢s number I knew I would learn a lot of information from this interview. Ben was a recent graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and, at the time of this interview, was only employed for six months.
